'My Secret Heart' Nominated For British Composer Awards And Wins Grant From The Arts Council

Mira Calix's audio-visual installation 'My Secret Heart' has been nominated for a further award, this time at the British Composer Awards. Alongside this, Mira Calix has recently received a grant from the Arts Council of England to fund a new project in conjunction with other British composers.

Touted as the classical equivalent of the Mercury Prize, a nomination for the British Composer Awards is another fantastic achievement for 'My Secret Heart'. Mira Calix is up against 2 other nominees in the 'Community or Educational Project' catagory.

Ellis Rich, Chairman of PRS for Music comments

"The diversity and strength of talent represented by these nominations underpins how vibrant and important the music scene is in the UK. We are proud to be the sponsor of these awards and continue to work hard for all the songwriters, composers and music publishers we represent."

The winners of the British Composer Awards will be announced at the Law Society in London on Tuesday 1st December.

As well as her nomination, Mira Calix has also been awarded a grant by the Arts Council of England. The grant will fund a new project, 'Exchange and Return', which will see her working alongside celebrated British composers Larry Gloves and Tansy Davis. The progress of the year-long project can be followed here.
