Mira Calix

Two live dates in the UK this July

29/06/2009
July will see Mira Calix performing in London and Brighton in two specially commissioned collaborative live events.

July 4th, Purcell Room, Southbank Centre, London: Nothing Like The Sun

Another chance to see the Shakespeare sonnets project commissioned by The Royal Shakespeare Company and Opera North as part of the Complete Works Festival in 2007. As well as original composition by Gavin Bryars, the performance includes Shakespear settings by guest composers Mira Calix, Anthony Hegarty, Natalie Merchant, Alex Blanescu and Gavin Friday.

Deborah Shaw, the director of the Complete Works Festival, comments:

'This is the ideal project for the RSC to collaborate with Opera North on and as curator, Gavin Bryars has brought together an inspired mix of artists who deliver a truly original take on some of the greatest poetry ever written'
