We Are Over There collaboration with composer Larry Goves plus Wet Sounds with Andrea Parker
Read on for that and an interesting dual sound system, underwater collaboration with Andrea Parker called Wet Sounds, taking place at Newcastle City Pool on 6th February.
We Are Over There
'The project is a 30 minute piece in collaboration with the composer Larry Goves and is supported by the Arts Council Of England. It is inspired by Mira's song,'I may be over there (but my heart is over here)' which originally appeared on the album Skimskitta.'
'The world premiere will be performed by Ensemble 10/10, the Royal Philharmonic's contemporary ensemble, and conducted by Clark Rundell. Works by composers Edgar Varese, Mathew Fairclough and Anna Meridith also appear on the program.'
'Mira and Larry will perform further new works created for Exchange and Return during an Open Rehearsal, at Aldeburgh Music prior to a recording session for BBC Radio 3’s ‘Hear and Now’. More intimate arrangements will be performed by the duo, accompanied by cellist Oliver Coates and pianist Sarah Nicholls at the Institute for Contemporary Arts, as part of Faster Than Sound later in February. 'For 2 months, Wet Sounds installs at swimming pools in 7 UK cities. Mira Calix and Andrea Parker will play together on 6th February in Newcastle on a dual sound system, above and below the water, to create a unique performance. The swimming pool is transformed to a darkened listening venue, the pool radiating soft light and the sound is split into two separate systems.'
