On Thursday 25th June at 4pm, Maximo Park will take to the stage of the brand new William’s Green area (named after Michael Eavis’ grandfather) to kick off this year’s Glastonbury festivities a day early.
The band also play The Other Stage on Saturday evening.
While only 1,500 people will be able to squeeze into the tent itself, the tens of thousands on site at that time will be able to see and hear the set on huge screens and speakers outside erected especially for the gig.
From Paul: “Glastonbury’s still a festival that takes chances, as proven by Jay-Z’s triumphant appearance last year, so it’s an honour for us to be the first band on, in such intimate surroundings. It’s also an excuse to hang out and watch loads of brilliant music ’til we play the Other Stage on Saturday!”
From Glastonbury: “We are really excited about this extra special Maxïmo Park gig to kick off the festival. William’s Green is brand new for 2009, what better way to introduce festival goers to the area.”
