‘Good Time Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ out now

10/08/2017

Oneohtrix Point Never’s visceral original score for hypnotic crime-thriller ‘Good Time’ is out now.

Awarded Best Soundtrack at Cannes 2017, the latest album from OPN draws in a lineage of influences ranging from synth prog, new age, library music and IDM, all driven by Lopatin’s disquieting and alien approach to songcraft.

The soundtrack is closed with ‘The Pure and the Damned’, an original song composed by Lopatin for the closing scenes of the film, featuring a guest vocal and lyrics written by Iggy Pop.

‘Good Time’ is directed by Josh and Benny Safdie and stars Robert Pattinson (in a widely regarded career best performance) and Jennifer Jason Leigh. The hypnotic crime thriller follows Pattinson’s Connie in a twisted odyssey through the New York underworld in a desperate attempt to get his brother out of jail.

‘Good Time Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’ Reviews

“This is Oneohtrix Point Never on highest alert”
– Q Magazine

“ominous, otherworldly electronica[...] a relentless, driving cacophony that yields only in the film’s final moments”
– Vogue

”the futurist grandeur of Brad Fiedel’s Terminator soundtrack, heavy shades of John Carpenter and Alan Howarth’s malevolent.[..] But the sheer density and erratic energy is all Lopatin’s own”
 – Guardian

“[Good Time] moves smartly and propulsively to the stressed-out strains of Daniel Lopatin’s edge-of-a-heart-attack score.”
– New York Times

“Treads the line between crime thriller score and psychotropic trip”
– The Wire

"A searing, striking set of compositions"
– DJ Mag

“Lopatin has made some of the most confrontational, maximal and transformative electronic music of the past decade[...] a worthy addition to Oneohtrix Point Never’s near-faultless discography, and a record to cherish in its own right”
– Line Of Best Fit
